Meet the Author
Lulla Sierra John
Lulla Sierra John is Dineh, from both Yukon and Alaska; her family’s traditional territory spans both sides of the border. This international boundary does not stop her from visiting family on either side of the border. She identifies with the Upper Tanana language group, spoken in four villages in Alaska and in Beaver Creek, Yukon.
Lulla completed her B.A in Political Science from University of Victoria, B.C. She spent most of her career working for the Canadian civil service. Lulla is passionate about travelling, this picture of her was taken while at a writing retreat in Ireland, 2022.
She currently lives in Vancouver, B.C and continues to write children’s books. She loves the outdoors, hiking and gardening. She likes nothing better than being with her grandchildren, teaching them about plants, identifying bird calls and harvesting wild berries.

Meet the Illustrator
Emma Reid
Emma Reid grew up in the Northern Irish countryside and studied architecture at Queen’s University, Belfast. In 2018, she crossed continents, settling in Vancouver to manifest her passion for the film industry. Four years in the art department honed her skills until the 2023 industry slowdown, providing Emma the chance to delve into her artistic pursuits. This led her to secure an art studio in the heart of Chinatown.
A versatile artist, Emma excels in both graphic design and traditional oil painting, showcasing a unique blend of disciplines. Art, for Emma, has always been a means of expression and a medium to convey her love for nature and animals.
Enter Lucy Meets a Sasquatch, Emma’s inaugural foray into the realm of children’s books. Grateful for the collaboration with Lula, Emma breathes life into Lucy and expresses her gratitude for this enriching opportunity.
Lucy Meets a Sasquatch is her first children’s book project and she is grateful to have had the opportunity of working along side Lula to bring Lucy to life.
